NASA Voyager 1 probe encounters new region in deep space

epa03495429 A handout photograph made available by NASA on 03 December 2012 shows NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft exploring a new region in our solar system referred to as the ‘magnetic highway’. NASA reports on 03 December 2012 that this is the final zone the spacecraft needed to pass before being in interstellar space. The so-called ‘magnetic highway’ derives its name from charged particles from the sun’s magnetic field lines that are connected to interstellar magnetic field lines.
